Maddy Turns One!

I can't believe that our little girl is already one!  This past year has really flown by, and every single minute of watching Maddy grow has been amazing.  Every day I learn new things about her and watch her as she discovers the world.  Heavenly Father has blessed us with such a wonderful little girl.  She is so busy, always wanting to move around and discover new things.  My sister-in-law, Brooke, is the best blogger ever!  So I steal ideas from her all the time - like this one below :)

The most important lesson I've learned this year is: my mom and dad can't get enough of me

Such a treat to have pancackes for breakfast and daddy there too!  We held off on giving Maddy sugar until she turned one, so pancakes were a big treat.  But of course she wasn't that interested and just wanted to pick at them.  She is more and more like her dad everyday.

She held onto her birthday balloon while she was eating
and was wearing her new birthday bracelets.

The pancakes weren't a hit so I moved on to Eggos, but all she wanted to do was pick at those too!

We couldn't believe that we woke up to this snowfall,
and it was in the 70s the week before!

My mom and I took to Maddy Gymore and she loved every minute of it.  She crawled over every inch of the room, crawling up and down the little wall, and playing in the bubbles.

It was such a treat to have Grammer with me on my birthday!

Tired out and ready to go home for a nap and get ready for the big party!

For Maddy’s birthday I invited some of Mitch’s close friends, Brenda and her family, and then Mitch’s family (and the Martin side of his family).  It turned out really great.  We had a Halloween theme – the kids came in their Halloween costumes and we decorated things in pink, orange and black. I even stayed up to make marshmallow ghost party favors (thanks to pintrist).  Katie made an amazing cake that had two layers – carrot cake and chocolate marble – and made a white foundit (sp?) frosting with pink and orange circles around it.  Unfortunately, Maddy wanted nothing to do with cake!  I thought she would be all over it – but I guess she is turning out more and more like her dad – having a love for gummies and not sweets like her mom!  She got lots of great things, but one of the best things that she got (really that I loved the most) was a framed saying of “You are My Sunshine”.  My mom gave it to her, and it was so special to me because we used to sing that all the time.  My mom first had me open a small frame that said “Ok!” in it and I had no idea what it meant.  So I opened the next frame and it had the lyrics to “You are My Sunshine” and I got it right away – I used to say “Ok” to my mom after every verse of the song when she would sing it to me.  I loved it.  She also got lots of great things from everyone else – a garden play area from Mitch’s parents, her first doll, a purse, books, and a pop up toy.

Katie made an absolutely amazing cake for Maddy's birthday.
She is soo talented!

I have the most wonderful friends and family ever - everyone
brought such yummy food and we managed to finish it!

This was my attempt at baking with her birthday colors.

Yummy roll for dinner - she made sure to take the ham and cheese of the sandwich.

Happy 1st Birthday sweet Madeline!

I was so excited to give Maddy her birthday cake but of course she wasn't interested at all!
She was more interested in what everyone was doing around her, singing and taking pictures.

Time for bed!  Turning one sure is tiring.

At her 12 month check-up she weighed 19.9 lbs (25%) and her height was 30" (70%).  She actually got really sick before her appointment, so we weren't able to get her vaccinations, and Dr. Memmott said that we would have to come back.  Her temperature went all the way up to 104, and a couple of days later she broke out into a rash.  I called my dad and luckily he was able to diagnose her over the phone by looking at some pictures that I sent him; she ended up having Roseola.  After a few days the rash went away and she was back to her busy little self.  We love seeing her so happy and full of life!!!!

Happy 1st Birthday my angel!!!  Mommy and Daddy love you soooo MUCH!!
