Halloween

This year Maddy was much more into Halloween - and was loving wearing her witch costume around the house (thanks Ellie!).  We went to a Halloween party at the library and then our ward had a trunk-or-treat in our neighborhood.  We of course made a stop at Grammy and Papa's before we started our trick-or-treating and even had Trippy dressed for the occasion!  After the trunk-or-treat, Maddy was watching the "big kids" in the neighborhood go door to door so she wanted to join in the fun.  We went up and down our street and she was loving going to the doors but got a little scared at some of the houses that were really spooky.  Trip was great and slept on me the whole night!

get in trouble when I say "Right now!!!" I don't like timeouts!

The most important lesson I've learned this year is: sharing and playing pretend; I love playing mommy with
my baby piggy and baby doll Mary

Madeline you are so much fun and surprise me from day to day what you are going to do and say!  You absolutely love to play!  Your favorites are: playing with bottles and filling them with water, opening mommy and daddy's hair products, putting on shoes (especially your running shoes and boots - you get a little frustrated sometimes, but you are so determined to figure out how to put them on!), you LOVE putting on lips, being mommy to your baby doll Mary - feeding her, changing her diaper, and rocking her to sleep, reading books are still an all time favorite, jumping off of stairs (scares mommy though!), and playing, playing, playing!!

There have been so many changes this year - and when I brought Trip home from the hospital you seemed so big! You make sure to let me know that you are NOT my baby but my BIG GIRL! You love your little brother so much - sometimes a little too much - but you always want to be kissing him and holding him.  You're my little helper - throwing away diapers for me, playing with Trippy and giving him his binki when he's crying.  The fastest little helper too - always saying "Right back!"  Whenever I go places, everyone always says how adorable you are, and then you get all shy and bury your head into me.  But it is true, you get cuter and cuter every day with everything you say and do.  It has been difficult for you to learn how to share and to obey, but when I ask you what Jesus would do, you always say "give loves" - and it melts me.  I see you growing in your love for Jesus and Heavenly Father each day.  Hearing you pray and what you are grateful for (every person you can think of), singing primary songs, wanting to see baby Jesus during Christmas (and then everywhere after that), are just a few of the things I love hearing you say.  You are such a blessing to mommy and daddy and I love seeing you as a big sister too.  It fills me with so much love with I see you with him - holding his hand if he is crying, telling him its okay - or really saying "hey, hey, hey, don't cry, mommy right back" - I can't wait to see you and Trippy get closer and play together.  You amaze me so much.  You are my miracle baby.  Always.  Love you with all my heart.

Welcome Baby Tripp!

We had a BOY!!!

Mitchell J (Tripp) Olsen III was born on September 28, 2013 at 5:58 p.m., 19 3/4" long, and weighing 7lbs.

Tripp's Birth Story:  My fertility doctor in Michigan had told me that he didn't think that I was going to be able to get pregnant on my own.  Even though we had Madeline through in vitro fertilization, Mitch and I were hopeful that we'd be able to have another baby without the use of fertility medicine.  After several months of trying again with no success, we decided to schedule a date for an embryo transfer for December 2012 when we were going to be in Michigan to spend Christmas with my family (since all of our embryos were in Michigan it made sense to plan the transfer when we were going to be there).  However the week I was suppose to start taking medications to get my body ready for the embryo transfer, I felt really unsure about our decision.  After much prayer, I decided to go to the temple, and it was there where I got the strongest impression to wait an be patient.  So Mitch and I decided to hold off on getting the transfer in December and wait and see if we could get pregnant on our own.  To our surprise, one month later we found out I was pregnant!

We truly couldn't believe it!  The day I found out, I called my doctor to see if I could get a blood test to verify the results from my home pregnancy test.  I was in such shock on my way to my doctor's that I got a speeding ticket!  Sure enough, the blood test confirmed that we were in fact really pregnant!  Despite being sick in the beginning, my pregnancy was really great.  A few weeks before my due date, Dr. Kinghorn said that I could be induced if we wanted because our baby was growing great and looked really healthy.  We again didn't find out if we were having a boy or a girl, so we couldn't wait to meet our little miracle baby #2!  On September 28th, Kim came over in the morning to watch Maddy, and Mitch and I were off to the hospital to meet the newest member of our family!

Last time we're just a family of three!

About to meet this little bundle of joy

The waiting game begins - Mitch was glad it was a Saturday
that a lot of football games were on.

Bringing our baby home!

Home sweet home.

The amount of love that you have for a baby is incredible.  To fall so completely head-over-heals in love with our little Tripp is the most amazing feeling in the whole world.  And then to look at our sweet Madeline and feel that same love for her is incredible.  Yep, being a mom is the absolute best.  Ever.
